Thermal Comfort Optimization in an Electric Vehicle

In automobiles, the demand for HVAC has been rising decades and key variables that affect thermal comfort in a car were identified as air velocity, temperature, radiant relative humidity. Thermal estimation vehicle depends on transient behavior of cabin space boundaries. The predicted mean vote (PMV) percentage dissatisfied (PPD) are available methods to describe optimize space. this paper, minivan was analyzed reduction energy consumption with help experimental numerical simulation. Using CFD simulation validation data, flow dynamics inside is evaluated based indices. With some error extreme planes, strong agreement reached between values model. velocity from 2.3 m/s 1.3 m/s, average power required run blower can be reduced by 43%, providing an advantage reducing capacity compressor. higher PPD observed walls at outlet AC vents.
